October 17, 2005 - #100 of 365 - A Milestone
Brewer: Beck’s/InBev (Bremen, Germany)
Beer: Beck’s Oktoberfest
Style: Oktoberfest/Märzen
abv: 5%
Background: I thought I’d turn tradition on its head and drink as number 100 the beer in my fridge with the least potential (ignoring, of course, Leigh’s Amstel Lights).
Appearance: Pours clear copper with a generous head.
Aroma: Barely there. Light caramel and toffee.
Flavor: Begins with promise—nice and malty—but then turns harshly metallic, like a mouthful of blood.
Notes: When I said it poured copper, I didn’t think it was actually made of pennies. A good appearance and an innocuous aroma saved this one from a truly horrendous rating.
Rating: 2.5
