Brewer: Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan (Freising, Germany)
Beer: Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier
Style: Hefeweizen
abv: 5.4%
Background: Bottle from the store. The brewery’s been around since 1040.
Appearance: Pours hazy orange-gold with a huge eggshell head.
Aroma: Classic hefeweizen aroma, with the cloves dominant over the banana. Very yeasty, too, and there’s some wheat, of course.
Flavor: Quite yeasty, with the banana playing a larger part than it did in the aroma. The aftertaste is quick and fruity.
Notes: Very good.
Rating: 3.8 out of 5
