Brewer: Stone Brewing Company (California, USA)
Beer: 9th Anniversary Ale
Style: American Strong Ale
abv: 7.8%
Background: Bottle from the store. For the Anniversary line, Stone takes an old beer and messes with the recipe. This is their Heat Seeking Wheat beer with a few “adjustments.”
Appearance: Pours clear gold-amber with a large, dense white head and some slow effervescence.
Aroma: Big west coast hop nose—citrusy and piney. The wheat comes through as a tart breadiness.
Flavor: Begins as a wheat beer, especially if kept in the mouth for a few seconds—mellow wheat flavor and a subtle tartness. The finish is that of an IPA, and leaves the mouth quite dry.
Notes: Innovative, excellent beer.
Rating: 4.1 out of 5
