Brewer: Lagunitas Brewing Company (California, USA)
Beer: Censored Ale
Style: American Strong Ale
abv: 7.7%
Background: Bottle from the store. It used to be called The Kronik, apparently.
Appearance: Pours copper with a large off-white head.
Aroma: Sweet dark malts—toffee, caramel, tea leaf—and a great citrusy hoppiness.
Flavor: Malty and nutty. The finish isn’t as hoppy as the aroma suggests; it’s slightly bitter and dry, the dominant flavor being tea. There is a slight metallic taste, without which this would be a world-class beer.
Notes: Thick mouthfeel. Very good.
Rating: 3.7 out of 5
